Advent is the name that we give to the four weeks leading up to Christmas Day. During this time, we focus on Christ coming as a baby, born in Bethlehem that first Christmas day, and also on the promise of his coming again, in glory, to put the world to rights. We will also think about Jesus’ promise to come into people’s lives, to restore their relationship with God.
But what sort of world does Jesus come to today? With a little help from John Lewis (and a dragon), Lidl and Argos (other stores are available), we’ll be thinking about this question. “Advent and Advert” begins this Sunday morning, December 1st, when we ask “Who’s really welcome?”
Then on Sunday afternoon, at 4.00 pm, we celebrate Messy Christmas. This is an event for children with their parents, grandparents and carers. We’ll explore something of the message of Christmas through crafts, games and the story of the birth of Jesus, and conclude with a meal. All are welcome.
