This month has got quite a bit of extra activity going on
First up, on Sunday November 4th, we have Messy Church, at 4.00 pm, exploring the theme “Jesus, the Light of the World”. Messy Church is a church activity where families come together to think about some of life’s big questions, and to have fun while we do so. We join in crafts, play, songs and a story, all on the same theme. Finally we have a simple meal together. The whole event will run till about 5.30. Messy Church is for families and not just for children, so the idea is that children come with parents, grandparents or carers. If you’re able to come, whether you go to church regularly or whether you’ve never been before, you’ll be very welcome.
Then on Saturday November 10th, from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm, we will be holding our 
annual coffee morning and craft fayre, with home baking and a range of crafts for sale – Hogganfield Loch tile coasters, Christmas table decorations, macrame plant hangers, candle holders, cards, home made jam and more. You are welcome to come along and join us for a cup of tea or coffee, to browse our stalls, and to find some unique handmade gifts for Christmas.
Sunday November 11th is Remembrance Sunday, and this year has a special significance as it is exactly 100 years since the First World War came to an end. Our Remembrance activities will have special poignancy this year because of this. Our service will begin a little earlier, at 10.50, so that we can observe a 2 minute silence at 11.00. We will focus on the theme “Remembering war, praying for peace.”
Then on the following Saturday, November 17th, we are one of the venues across the country for what is hoped to be the UK’s largest multi-venue quiz. This is organised by the Christian relief agency Tearfund, in aid of Syrian refugees in camps in neighbourin
g countries such as Lebanon. With rounds on General Knowledge, Geography, Film and TV, Sport and Music, and a special video round on Food and Drink presented by TV chef Tom Herbert, there will be questions that people of almost any age can answer. So why not come along and join a team, or even bring a team, and enjoy a night of fun, knowing that at the same time you will be helping to make a difference in the lives of some of the world’s vulnerable people.We suggest a donation of £5 per person, but you are welcome to make any contribution you would like. The quiz starts at 7.45 pm, with refreshments from 7.15 pm. You are welcome simply to turn up on the night, but it will help us with our planning if you let us know if you plan to come along.
